World Aeropress Championship 2010

From the WAC blog:
The emphasis is on taste and having a bit of fun. Being able to brew a beautifully balanced cup is key – there are no presentation skills required, just to serve the sponsored coffee in it’s best light.
The rules are fairly straight forward, 5 judges will evaluate, purely based on taste, the best filter style brew from the Aeropress. We want the competition to be as transparent as possible, with the intention of fine tuning the hugely varied technique used to brew on the Aeropress.
Despite the WAC’s “humble” beginning in the garage of Tim and Tim, this event has quickly grown into something of a global phenomenon. Baristas from all over the world entered last year, some by proxy – mailing their recipes in to be completed for them in Norway. Ben Kaminsky (Ritual, San Francisco) for example, mailed his recipe in for the 2009 competition. To this day his recipe remains my personal favorite (the top three recipes from 2009 are all available here).
Judging by the quality of competitors that have already signed up, this year promises to be the best yet. If you’d like to enter but can’t travel to London, you can once again enter by proxy. Full details on the rules available here.
Oh, and the prize? TBD. But bragging rights throughout Scandinavia should be enough.
