Magnificent Bastard’s Promotional Giveaway

I occasionally receive emails from people asking me to promote their product (usually coffee) in exchange for free samples. Normally I ignore them, or share the more interesting offers with friends. Never once have I published something for anything beyond my own amusement. But today I received one that actually sounded pretty reasonable (sans payola for me). So for the first time, I’ll pass it on to you.

Magnificent Bastard (sounds good already doesn’t it?) is requesting submissions for entertaining descriptions of their custom-made cocktail. The cocktail was created through another promotion of theirs, and it actually sounds pretty good:

2 oz Bulleit bourbon

1 oz Berentzen Apfelkorn

1/8 oz Laphroaig 10-year scotch

2 dashes Angostura bitters

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir vigorously for 20-30 seconds. Strain into ice-filled rocks glass.

So what’s the prize?

  • A one year supply of MB coffee courtesy of Bull Run Roasting Company
  • A Hario grinder and dripper
  • Two designer diner coffee mugs.

It’s listed as a $495 value (I can’t vouch for the quality of their coffee partner), but if all you have to do is drop them a note telling them why you love this drink, it’s worth it for the Hario Skerton (Skeleton) and v60 combo alone.
