Ithaca Fest 2009
Posted on May 30, 2009 by Mike
I drove from NYC to Ithaca on Thursday to help participate in the Ithaca Festival, a 30 year old, weekend long celebration of music, food, and fun. It’s the first time in our 8 year history that we’ve actually had a booth at the festival, facilitated by our experience operating at the Ithaca’s Farmers Market at Steamboat Landing, and our amazing crew. With 220v power we were able to install our MVU equipped with the Mirage, a hot water tower, and a full upright commercial refrigerator. Three stages keep the Ithaca Commons moving while an entire block of State St is devoted to food vendors. Children run around eating ice cream and getting their faces painted, and young adults slowly get inebriated (or stoned) and dance a little faster. This year is the first time that I can remember the weather in Ithaca actually cooperating, with sunshine forecast for the rest of the weekend.
The festival kicks off the weekend every year with a parade, which includes the famous Volvo Ballet, and Chainsaw Marching Band. Check the shaky video from 2007 below to see it for yourself.
