Gimme! Beer

Thanks to some of our loyal customers, we finally got our hands on a bottle of Ithaca Beer’s Kaffinator (as previously mentioned here).

Gimme John While John wasn’t actually drinking it on bar, it wouldn’t have been unusual for him to crack one open during the busy morning rush. Instead I took it home to analyze in a more controlled environment. The results? It’s good beer. The coffee flavor is barely perceptible, but I can definitely see how the hearty bockness works well with coffee. I think they could stand to add a bit more espresso to the brew, but maybe that’s just the late afternoon kaffinator buzz talking.

    Spuyten has this for $22 a bottle. Surprised i didn’t see any of it being passed around on Monday!

    also, i’ve dumped espresso into beer a number of times and always regretted it. So I was pleasantly surprised when I had this and ACTUALLY liked it. The chocolate flavors were kinda amazing.

    Spuyten the bar or Spuyten the grocery store? Apparently this particular bottle was purchased at their grocery store. I can’t believe they’d sell it for $22 at the grocery store.

    I actually didn’t know that Spuyten offered this on Monday night, otherwise it could’ve been a much later night…
